Leadership Forum
In 2007, His Honour the Honourable Dr. Gordon L. Barnhart, Lieutenant Governor of Saskatchewan, established an annual leadership forum for Saskatchewan high school students in grades 11 and 12.
"The Lieutenant Governor’s Leadership Forum provides an opportunity for senior high school students in the province to gain leadership skills and cultivate a vision of their future in Saskatchewan," said Dr. Barnhart. "The Forum enriches and complements the academic, artistic, and athletic offerings in schools. Our hope is that students who experience the Forum will choose mentors, develop dreams, and create goals that will serve them once they have completed high school."
The ten-day program focuses on leadership concepts. Each year, eighteen students observe examples of leadership roles in government, Crown Corporations, the private sector, and post secondary institutions and interact with leaders in our community.
The Lieutenant Governor’s Leadership Forum Inc. is a non-profit organization dedicated to engaging students in discussion and to expose them to a variety of experiences designed to develop personal leadership potential. It encourages them to accept the challenge of leadership. The annual Forum is made possible through the generous support of the private sector, federal and provincial government agencies and ministries, and Crown Corporations.
