Her Honour Hosted King’s Counsel Induction
Lieutenant Governor Bernadette McIntyre hosted the King’s Counsel Induction Ceremony at Government House on March 5th, 2026.
Her Honour Bernadette McIntyre was delighted to co-host the 2025 King’s Counsel Induction Ceremony with the Honourable Tim McLeod, K.C., Minister of Justice and Attorney General, on Thursday afternoon, March 5th, 2026, in Government House in Regina.
King’s Counsel certificates were presented to: Trifon John (John) Agioritis, Shawn Edwin Blackman, Jessie Clairisse Buydens, George Anthony Green, Robert James Grimsrud, Theodore Francis (Ted) Koskie, Maria Markatos, Sandra June Schnell, Heather Janine Sherdahl, Crystal Lynn Taylor, Shannon Gayle Whyley and John Michael Williams.
Master of Ceremonies for the event was Deputy Attorney General Max Bilson. Also in attendance were Chief Justice Robert W. Leurer, Chief Judge Shannon L. Metivier, and Deputy Minister of Justice Kimberly Kratzig.

The practice of King’s Counsel appointments dates back to the 16th Century in England and Queen Elizabeth I! Since 1815, in Canada the initials “K.C” have indicated the highest standing in the legal profession. Centuries later, the honour is no less meaningful.
